Interview with Lifestyle Influencer, World Traveler & Creative Director Jacqueline Mikuta was launched in December 2019. The brand is all about creating sustainable pieces that are comfy with a twist of rock’n’roll where details are key. We met up with the creative founder behind the brand, Jacqueline Mikuta
Hey Jacqueline! Why is it that you and your partner Klemens are the most humble influencers that we've ever met?

Haha, thank you <3

Tell me more about your fashion brand Mikuta - what is the brand story all about?

The brand Mikuta stands for comfort and confidence with a twist of rock’n’roll. In a world where trends come and go, the Mikuta pieces are timeless, easy to wear and something to keep in your wardrobe for a long time due to its high quality. When I started this brand I wanted to create pieces that are simple but with an edge, comfortable without being boring, gives you the confidence you deserve and to express your laid back and cool personality. The brand is inspired by the chill and flowy lifestyle of the Balearic Islands with a mix of the chaotic but still laidback life of Berlin.

What does the word “fashion” mean to you?

For me fashion is not about trends, it is about expressing your personality or mood through what you’re wearing. It’s all about finding your personal style which fits you and having fun by using trends to adjust it along the way!

How would you describe your personal style?

I describe it just as the Mikuta brand, it’s simple and comfortable with attention to details. My style is very desaturated and chill but I like to add some “color” with my jewellery or fun details to give that extra touch of uniqueness.

What can we expect from Mikuta-shop in 2020?

The pieces will continue with the same philosophy but a wider range… ;)

What's the story behind your nickname Mikuta?
When I was 22 I was really into the Japanese manga style and wanted to change my name to something more suitable and came up with the name Mikuta. So I immediately changed it on my social media and since then I’ve always called myself Mikuta, now my style has changed quite a bit, but the name has grown with me and has become it’s own style.

You are born in Sweden, raised in Spain, but live in Berlin. What nationality do you identify most with?

That’s a hard question that people ask quite often and I always say I feel like a mix of Swedish and Spanish, the Spanish relaxed and a bit slower lifestyle but still with the Swedish traditions and mindset. In the end I think it doesn’t have so much to do with the nationality, it’s more about the people and environment you’re surrounded with and how you grow up :)

Last but not least - Tell u something most people don’t know about you!

I always sing when I’m happy without realising it, haha!
